Using your memories and photos, and through interviews, and location visits if possible,

Using memories, photos, interviews, and location visits, we work together with you to create a portrait of your home that will stay with you forever.

Step 1 – Introduction
Get in touch with me. Tell me about the home you have in mind: what kind of portrait are you thinking of having painted? Will it be a portrait of a building, a street, or a whole city? Where do you plan to hang the painting? What size? What style?
Step 2 – Research
Once we’ve agreed on all the details of the painting, a contract is signed and I set to work researching the subject, collecting photographs and other information (either from you, from the public domain, or ideally by visiting the place myself). I begin to prepare some concept sketches.
Step 3 – Interviews
The most important part of the research process is the interviews. I speak with you in depth in order to find out as much as I can about your experience of your former home: why it’s important for you, what images stand out, which parts of the building(s), streets, or spaces you remember most vividly, etc. We go through the research material and the concept sketches and make important content and style decisions together. It is your connection to the home and your sharing of those memories with me that allow me to establish a strong connection with the architecture and, in combination with my own research, paint a lasting bespoke architectural portrait.
Step 4 – Production
I lock myself in the studio with your memories, your experiences, the archival material, my own research, and our finalized concept and set to work on the painting in the agreed upon time and parameters (size, medium, material, style, etc).
To avoid distraction there is little contact between artist and client in this period. You may receive updates, but it is very likely you won't hear from me until the portrait is complete.
Step 5 – Delivery
The final product immortalizes your special emotional connection with architecture in the form of a painting of the highest artistic quality using only select museum-grade material and media.
The artwork is delivered to you only once I am 100% satisfied with the result.
You accept the portrait only once you are 100% satisfied with the result.
This is my promise and my guarantee.

Whilst living in Osaka, Japan I became aware of Krzysztof as an international artist heavily influenced by architecture. Seeing his work in local businesses and galleries, I was massively impressed by his ability to find the hidden character of the buildings and structures that were the subjects of his works. Pricing
Prices are based on the size, material, medium, and complexity of the work. Each commission is a bespoke architectural portrait.
The artwork produced is custom-made and one-of-a-kind.
As a benchmark, commissioning a portrait like the one in the image to the left (160 x 200cm, acrylic, graphite, and ink on 100% linen canvas) starts at 2300 EUR* whereas a portrait like the one on the right (60 x 80cm, gouache, Japanese brush pen, ink wash, and graphite on archival, acid-free paper) start at 950 EUR*.
A portrait takes anywhere from 3-9 months to complete.

The Artist
Krzysztof Debicki is a visual artist based in Berlin. He is a draughtsman, painter, and photographer holding a Master of Arts from Weissensee University of Art in Berlin, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary.
His journey from Calgary to Berlin took nearly 20 years and began with a semester at Cooper Union in New York City studying large-scale drawing and African art history. In pursuit of further urban experience, he lived in Rome, Barcelona, Beirut, and Osaka. Krzysztof is a keen observer of architecture and turns cities, structures, and spaces into subjects for his drawing, painting, and photography.
Krzysztof has taken part in numerous group and solo exhibitions and his works can be found in private collections around the world.
